Launched in 2006 at the Filmhouse in Edinburgh, the Africa in Motion Film Festival has become one of Europe’s leading platforms for promoting African cinema. Festival founder Lizelle Bisschoff remembers how it all started and introduces this year’s programme.

Edinburgh’s former Dick Veterinary School is being given an overhall this Fringe, becoming Summerhall, a new multi-arts festival venue hosting a series of film events.

The Best of Kendal Film & Curry Night will consist of three real-life adventure films – Wild Water, The Swiss Machine and A Life Ascending – plus curry, a raffle and the opportunity to bring your own bottle, all for £8.
