Edinburgh’s Cineworld cinema is to host the city’s first IMAX screen on 21 December 2011, launching with preview screenings of Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol.
Announcing the news, Lindsay Cook, Cineworld Edinburgh General Manager said, “We couldn’t be more excited to be bringing this uniquely immersive cinema experience to our customers.”
The latest film in the Mission Impossible franchise is due to open in UK cinemas on 26 December, but Cineworld IMAX Edinburgh will screen the film from 21 December.

Cineworld IMAX Edinburgh represents the first of three IMAX screens to be installed at existing Cineworld sites, with additional openings at Cineworld Nottingham and Cineworld Sheffield scheduled for early 2012. These openings will bring the total number of IMAX theatres in the UK to 19, 16 of which are currently in operation.
Future titles planned for the Edinburgh screen include Dark Knight Rises, Wrath of the Titans, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, Men in Black 3 and The Amazing Spiderman.
