The programme launch for the 65th Edinburgh International Film Festival (EIFF) isn’t until Tuesday 17 May, but the organisers have started to drip-feed the first few titles to whet our appetites.
Included in the line-up will be the latest film from Young Adam director, David Mackenzie, the science fiction thriller Perfect Sense. Trainspotting alumni Ewan McGregor and Ewen Bremner star.
Elsewhere, supernatural thriller, Stormhouse, will make its international premiere in Edinburgh, while acclaimed writer/director David Hare’s spy drama, Page Eight, will appear in Edinburgh before screening on BBC television.
Other confirmed titles include the Ibiza-set comedy, Weekender,British-Canadian small town drama, Angel’s Crest, and coming-of-age drama, Albatross.
Talking about the titles, EIFF Director James Mullighan said: “The Edinburgh International Film Festival has long been regarded as the ideal launch pad for important new British cinema and the place at which UK emerging talent is nurtured. Of the nearly 3000 films submitted to EIFF, 58 were British feature fiction films and we’re delighted to be in a position to showcase some of them to Edinburgh audiences in June.”
