Film of the week: Small Deaths

Jonathan Melville 18 January, 2012 0

Every Wednesday we’ll be presenting a full length film made in Scotland that’s available to watch online. The films will mainly be short fiction or documentary but feature length films, music videos, adverts and more will make an appearance.

In the same week that Scottish director Lynne Ramsay was nominated for a BAFTA for her 2011 film, We Need to Talk About Kevin, we’ve decided to head back to 1996 for her graduation film, Small Deaths.

Winner of the 1996 Cannes Prix de Jury, the film covers three events in a young girl’s life and shows Ramsay’s fascination with the darker side of life was evident from the start.
