Seven months after its debut on US TV, hit series Outlander has finally landed itself a UK broadcaster in the shape on online streaming vendor, Amazon Prime.
Starring Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe as Jamie Fraser and Claire Randall, Outlander charts the journey of a young woman from 1945 who finds herself time travelling back to 1743 and into the arms of a rugged Highlander and his violent world.
Despite its popularity in the US with viewers and critics – online review aggregator Metacritic summarised it as a “unique, satisfying adaptation of its source material, brought to life by lush scenery and potent chemistry between its leads.” – Outlander failed to find a home at a traditional UK broadcaster.
Amazon Prime will begin streaming the series from 26 March, with a London premiere taking place on 23 March featuring Heughan and Balfe.
